Letter

Dear Friend,
I was so happy when you told me that you were planning to come to South Dakota to visit me. There are many things to do and see here, but I think the most unique place is Mount Rushmore National Memorial. You will see the faces of four American presidents, George Washington, Thomas Jefferson, Abraham Lincoln, and Theodore Roosevelt carved into the mountain. The author of the Memorial is Gutzon Borglum. He began his work in 1927. His son finished the work. The Memorial is an interesting and wonderful place.

Dear Friend,
I was so happy when you told me that you were planning to come to Belarus to visit me. There are many things to do and see here, but I think the most interesting place is Brest Fortress Hero.
Brest Fortress is an interesting place to visit. The Memorial is a very important for my country. The Soviet Union began World War II at this place. My grandfather perished the first day of the War near this fortress. It was built in the mid-19 century. It is located in a very beautiful place on the shore of the river Muhavez. The size of the structure is impressive. The height of the walls is 10-15 meters (30-45 feet) and lengthwise it is 6.5 kilometers (about 4 miles) in circumference. Inside the fortress to quartered garrison are about 12 thousand people. There is an open-air museum of military equipment. The fortress organizes excursions. I have visited this place three times and each time I learned something new.
See you soon,
Andrei

Dear Friend,
I was so happy when you told me that you were planning to come to Kazakhstan to visit me. There are many things to do and see here, but I think the most beautiful place is Medeo.
Medeo is located on the south of Kazakhstan in the city of Almaty. Medeo is high mountains with snow tops and green pine trees. Down from the mountains you can see Rocky River. Sometimes it seems that mountains are pushing the sky. There is a beautiful ice scatting arena. Medeo in these mountains. Many tourists come to visit this place. Medeo has many restaurants and hotels. It is a fun place to visit.

Dear friend,

I was so happy, when you told me that you were planning to come to Minsk, Belarus to visit me. There are many things to do and see here, but I think the most interesting place is the Mir Castle Complex. It’s a big construction of the fifteenth century that represents the history of Belarus. This building looks like a square with five towers. In the tower you can see a museum of history, because a castle was made like a fortress. Near the castle you will a River Miryanka, were you can swim. The complex also has a Memorial Chapel and Savior Tower in the park where you can walk and breathe fresh air. The castle is very dark inside and very, very light outside. The wall outside have brick-red and beige colors. At the end you can buy some souvenirs at the fair.

Dear Friend,
I was so happy when you told me that you were planning to come to the United States to visit me. There are many things to do and see here, but I think the most interesting place is the White House, the home of the president of the United States. Originally, the White House was called the presidential Palace. The first president to live there was John Adams, the second president of the United States. The White House is one of the most popular tourist attractions in the United States. Every year more than 1.5 million visitors go through the five rooms that are open to the public.

Three Wishes

Three things that would make me happy are a big house, be healthy and go to Vietnam. Living in a big house would give me a feeling of life in a castle as a queen. Be healthy would make me strong doing good job. On vacation in Vietnam I could visit my grandma and meet my friends. Certainly the three wishes will come true but they may take a long time.

My First Day in The United States

Let me tell you about my first day in America. It was two years ago, but I remember everything. I remember meeting at the airport with brother-in-law, his family and couple friends, the first dinner in Minnesota, and the strange feelings that I felt.
I arrived to Minneapolis late in the afternoon. My family was waiting for me at the large airport with flowers for my wife and balloons and toys for children. Everyone was so happy.
We all came to my brother-in-law’s townhome for dinner. We had a lot of time for speaking and long dinner. We ate a lot of food and barbeque. Every plate was delicious. I had questions about life in the United States.
When the night came I slept like a baby. I was happy to be here and scared about the future.
Now I have a nice life with my family. We are studying English, and we have a new car. I’m so happy to be here. I’m thankful to God and people who help me.

My First Day in The United States

I came to the U.S. 15 years ago. I never forget my first day. I felt scared. I saw my family and friends. We went to my mother house. I was so happy; my Mother was cooking El Salvadorian food. We were talking all day. My mother wanted to know about her family and friends. I felt scared because it was my first time in the U.S. I didn’t speak English very well, but I felt excited too. I could not sleep that night. I was so happy to be here. I have been living here in the U.S. for 15 years and I still miss my family and friends. I like it here, I will not move back to my country.

Into the car went back home. Outside there was too much snow falling. I saw everything different in my country, the houses, cars, weather…… At home, I ate dinner with them and drank, talking until the morning next day.
Now, I have something in my life. But I will never forget first day in the U.S.

My first day in the United State was in December 2008. I felt happy. I saw all my relatives. We had a wonderful dinner and we were special guests in my sister`s house.
When my husband, our kids and I arrived to airport we saw all relative who came to meet us. They were with balloons and flower. We took pictures and video. We were so happy to see each other.
We had a wonderful dinner together. My sister cooked so many different foods: traditional Russian and American. She baked a big cake and decorated it very nicely.
Later we spent an interesting time in her house. We told them about our trip and news from relatives and friends. We gave them presents from Belarus. We were so tired but went to sleep late.
That`s history of my life. If somebody else of my relatives decide to come, I`ll make a big surprise for them.

My First Day in The United States

I would like to tell you three things about my first day in U.S. Like feeling, problems and where I lived at first night.
Texas was first state I arrived. It was a good airport, good system to collect the travelers. I was excited to see the American technologies.
I had a lot of problems. The first one was that did not speak English as well as them had no body spoke my language who was waiting for me. So I arrived at 2:00 am. There was no body in the arrival area like any officer or employers to ask them where we can go. I was nervous because most of the people I saw did not speak English. It was a real problem to find the person who was waiting for me.
The first place was a good apartment. The apartment had little furniture and some food. But it was a bad area because all the neighborhood drinking beer outside.
I think this is usually for most of newcomers especially when they did not speak English and no have relatives or friends from their country to collect them.

My First Day in The United States

My first day in the United States was October, 2007. I felt excited but I was impressed with new things. My husband came to pick me up at the airport. I met my mother and sister at home. They promised me to take me to go everywhere and ate American food.
In fact, I felt very tired because I went to Minnesota in a long trip. It took me almost eighteen hours to get Minnesota. But I was impressed with high buildings, highways and especially the snow.
Then, I was very happy to meet my mother, my sister and my relatives. We haven’t seen each other for a long time.
After a few days, my family took me to go the Capitol of Minnesota. It located in Saint Paul. This was a big building that I had never seen before. After that, I visited the memorial wall of Vietnamese war in the museum. This was a high art construction that I admired.
After that, they took me to go the American restaurant so I could get to know American food. The food in there was very delicious that I have never eaten before. I like the American food very much.
To me, my first day in the United States was afraid of language, food and weather but I was confident I will get used to new life.
