Metro North School

Metro North is a wonderful school. All the teachers are very friendly and nice. Everything I have learned in Metro North School is very important to me.
Metro North taught me how to read and how to write. The first time I came here I didn’t understand English. But now I know English very well.
I like to say thanks to all of you teachers. The most important thing I would like to say is, “Thank you to Metro North. I’ll never forget you.”

When I moved to this country 4 years ago I dreamed of one day having a taste and playing a part in establishing myself in the culture and enjoying the American dream. Here I am, 4 years later seeing my two children be only 2 years away from enjoying the benefits of American schooling. I am greatful for what this country has helped me to succeed and learn. I am also hopeful that this dream will continue and that my education will allow me to succeed even more in this great country. Now I have more appreciation for this great melting pot I now call home.

Hello! I am Sergey. I am from Belarus. I speak Russian language. I have very beautiful wife and two funny sons. First have 3 years old, second have 1 and half years old.
I came to US because in my country very difficult politic situation. I like Minnesota because here too many lakes.
In my country I had a job in an office, I was computer worker. Now I have part tame job, and part time studying in a school and looking for a new job, great job.

I’m in Metro North because my sister was a student here and I saw that is a good school. The system the learning is daily and easy I think we could learn too much with them.
My goal is speak, write, listen to and reading very well as soon as possible.
I can see how the school helped me. I feel comfortable when I speak and answer better with somebody. The classes daily have helped a lot.
One important reason, it is true if you want speak other language, you can, just want and do it. There are different forms for new language. For example, we have here, conversation, newspapers, reading… and sometimes homework.

Metro North is a very good place for adult students to learn how to write and read in English. The best part for students is to graduate, get a diploma or GED to move on with your plan. It would change student life if they graduate. This school has good helpful teachers who always are there to help. Every class teacher gives a good example to help me understand English better. My name is Kadra Hussein and I am from Addis Ababa. It is the capital city of Oromia. In my country I was a business worker. I have a good life and I speak Oromo /Amharic in my country. I came to Minnesota on June 30, 2005. When I came here I did not speak English and I did not drive a car. I was very confused. Now I am better and I drive a car. I am very happy. About me

I would like to tell you where I came from. My name is Ka and I came from Thailand. In Thailand I lived in a small village in the Mideast. I lived in Thailand but my language is Hmong.
When I lived in Thailand my job was to make Hmong clothes. I come to the United States because I’m a refugee. My time here is for learning English. I need to learn English to help me do anything like I do when lived in Thailand.
I like this school because it’s helping me to learn everything in America. In Thailand I never went to school. Here I go everyday. It makes me feel better then that time. Surely I hope my English will get better and better.

I am Abuya Obo. I am from Ethiopia. I worked at the office as an office assistant. I speak Anyuak and Amaric languages.
I moved to Minnesota because my husband was here before me. I like Minnesota because I do not know about another state. I just stayed only in Minnesota.
When I was in my country I did not drive a car and there is nothing to drive. Everybody walks by foot. Driving the car is something new and good for me
I want to attend school and learn something and getting better. Studying English is good for everything in the U.S.A. It is good for communication and to know more words, reading, writing and speaking. The school helped a lot. I learn different English pronunciation and more.

My name is Andrei. I’m from Belarus. My family is very happy because we won our Green Card and we moved to USA. Why Minnesota? Because my family and I like this state and my wife’s sister is living here. I want to learn English very well and Metro North is helping me.

I'm from Mexico

I speak Spanish. I worked as a sales rep in my country and I studied in university. I came to visit my friend in the U.S. and I met my husband. We got married and we have a son. I want to learn good English, writing and read everything and find a good job. I wish to visit my family soon. I like Minnesota, but it is very cold.
I come to this school because they have daycare. I hope to get my GED soon. Maybe one day I can go back to Mexico and find a good job there.
I have many special things here I love this place, the people and all the opportunities. I love America.

I am from Moldova

My name is Natalia. I am from Chishnau, Moldova. My family and I came to the U.S. six months ago because my husband’s parents live here. In Moldova I was a teacher in my church.
I know Russian languages well, and Ukrainian and Moldavian 50/50. In Minnesota I like lakes, parks and river which are the same as in my country.
In Minnesota I learned how to drive a car that was new for me. My plan for the next five years is first of all to improve English, then go to college and get a job. I would like that my kids go to college, too.
My friends told me about this school. Here my English became better because I practice conversation with people from different counties. I think that this school will help me learn English and is important for me.

My name is Iryna Karanikha. I am from Belarus. I have lived in the U.S. for one year. I moved to the U.S. in hope of finding better life for myself and my sons. I come to Minnesota because my brother lives here. I like Minnesota’s weather, beautiful nature and friendly people. I was very blessed in this country with a good doctor, who helped fix my eyesight. I can see a lot better now. I even can get a driver’s license. It was always my dream to be able to drive a car.
I go to school to learn English. I really want to learn English so that I can go to college and get a very good job. I like this school because the teachers are nice. I like learning to read, write and speak, and also grammar, computer and spelling. I like it all. This school is helping me reach my goals of learning English and having better life in this wonderful country.

Then I moved to Minnesota because I am Arabic Chicago is busy and my husband could not find a Job, Here he got a good job. I like Minnesota! Summer is very nice and I live near Mississippi River. IN THE MORNING I USUALLY HAVE A COFFEE AND DONUT FOR BREAKFAST, BUT I DON’T HAVE PIZZA . I GO TO WORK IN THE DAY , AND I LIKE IT VERY MUCH.
I LOVE MEXICAN FOOD, AND ALSO LIKE ASIAN FOOD ,BUT I DON’T LIKE MCDONALDS . I USUALLY HAVE A BIG MEAL IN THE EVENING. IN A BAR OR CAFÉ I USUALLY DRINK A SODA ,AND IN A RESTAURANT I USUALLY HAVE A CALUPAS FROM TACO BELL, IT IS MY FAVORITE !!!!!
I LIVE ALONE IN A SMALL FLAT HOUSE. IN THE EVENING I USUALLY WACHT TV OR USE THE COMPUTER .
I LIKE HIP HOP MUSIC A LOT,BUT I DON’T LIKE LISTENING TO ROCK, AT THE WEEKEND I GO TO NIGHT CLUB , BUT I DON’T USUALLY GO TO WORK.
